As I made this Two Tone Crochet Beanie, I thought to myself, I need to try designing more pieces for men. I think it is easier to design for men (sweaters, vests, no pants please, ect..) than it is for women. Don’t you think?

I also say this from a personal view. I mean, we have three guys in our home, and I hardly design pieces for them. For instance, it is still cool out here in the desert land (howbeit beautiful desert land), and my husband just got a sweater for himself and all I could think was “why did you not crochet one for him?”. Now I feel like a negligent wife.
To be fair though, I have desgined two pieces for the male- the simple men’s beanie and dreamer poncho for boys. I’ve got to say, that poncho has been put to good use by our boys.
This two tone beanie is desgined in a way that it can be worn both ways. Both sides have a lovely texture. And the colour options are many too.
You could combine a black and white, cream and brown, purple and … what other colours can you think of?
This says crochet beanie for men, but there are smaller sizes for the younger guys too. Afterall, they are also growing into men, and you could make a pair for father and son- won’t that be cute?
As seen in the photos, the large size reaches mid-ear, but if you need it to be longer you can easily customise it. Just add a few more rounds before the final round; which is made with post stitches.

To make the crossed stitches on the increasing rounds, you make the Double Crochet first, then work the Half Double Crochet by going from the back of the DC and into the same stitch, it is similar to working a Back Post stitch.
