I looooooove amigurumi, I mean who doesn’t? Even though they do not always look realistic, they are usually so cute. The downside is, I do not enjoy making amigurumi. In fact, this is the first full amigurumi pattern I would start and finish.
(Update- Oct. 29, 2017- I am beginning to love making amigurumi. I’ve designed my first pattern; a snowman)
I find it a herculean task working with ONLY ONE kind of stitch- (Single Crochet) in a project. Ha!
However, when I first set eyes on this hearty giraffe, I fell hard for it and immediately picked up my hook before I could change my mind. Something about it just stuck with me and gave me motivation. The first one I made took about 2 weeks to complete, the second one took a month (of course, with 2 boisterous boys, running this blog and house work, it’s a wonder I could even continue with the project)
What I love about this design:
- This is the first amigurumi I have completed crocheting. And also the first I have croheted more than twice. It certainly was not my first try at amigurumi. Remember I said up there it was not a favourite of mine (still is’nt) but I can put the work into it seeing the end result in mind.
- This pattern is real easy and fun. Even a beginner can make it, you just have to be patient with yourself while making all the parts and joining them.
- The colour options are wide open. I have seen other versions of this heart teddy amigurumi and loved the majority of them.
- For sure, the unique heart shape in the middle; which was one of the features that later inspired me to design the Heart Teddy Amigurumi.
My giraffe measures 18.5 inches from top of ears to toe.
This is my first designer focus project. Read about why I started the Designer Focus and see the second project here.
Huge thanks to Amigurumi Today for creating this super cute Hearty Giraffe that has captured hearts and hooks all over the internet.
Materials I used:
–Alize Cotton Gold Plus, worsted weight. This yarn is a mixture of 55% cotton and 45% acrylic. It is soft, yet sturdy.
-I used a 3.5mm hook
-Safety eyes
-Needle to sew and weave in ends
I do not know which of the giraffes I like best. I love both equally. Which is your favourite, the mustard or purple?

I am not sure about that for this pattern, since I am not the original designer. Perhaps you can contact the designer on their site?
