Sometimes, you get an idea that just won’t leave you. I’ve had the idea for Smirkey the Sun since January this year, and no matter how I tried to ignore it, it just kept coming back.
After making the Sunflower Buddy, I said to myself, ‘you might as well put hook to yarn and make Smirkey’.
Now that the summer season is upon us, no better time to whip him up. I assume by now you feel the heat of the sun when you step out, so Smirkey is just a reminder to put on some protection. That smirk on his face already tells you how sizzling he’ll be.
Hang Smirkey the Sun in the children’s room, in your studio or your craft room to light up your space.
I use the same method as in the Sunflower Buddy to make the rounds.
The method is this; for every row with an even number of single stitches, you only begin with half of the number and end with half of the number. Example, the normal instruction for Row 4 in this pattern would be (SC in 2, 2SC in next. Rep. around. You would end with 2SC). However using this trick it would now be (SC in 1, 2SC in next. Rep. around, ending with SC in 1)
It’s ok if you sell items you made using LM patterns. And I’d really love it if you mentioned it was from LM.
And please, do not sell or mass produce LM patterns- (the only exception is if you are donating the items made to charity)
Thanks. You can read more on LM policy here.

If I made this with cotton yarn, I'm thinking this could make a great hot pot pad! It's so cute!
